A New Chapter of Refinement: Marcel Knobel on High Tide, Blue Eyed Jack’s Revenge Maduro

At the 2025 PCA Trade Show, ADVentura Cigars unveiled a significant new release: “High Tide” A Blue Eyed Jack’s Revenge Maduro. Today, we chat with Marcel Knobel, co-founder of ADVentura Cigars. We discussed the thinking behind this new cigar, the evolution of the ADVentura saga, and the journey of craftsmanship that brought this latest creation to life.

Why introduce a Blue Eyed Jack’s Revenge Maduro now?

"After the tremendous success of the original Blue Eyed Jack’s Revenge, we felt it was the right moment to expand the line with a Maduro wrapper," Knobel explains. "Interestingly, it was also the first time we adapted an existing blend by simply using a different wrapper, which gave us an entirely new interpretation of the cigar without losing its original spirit."

Reflecting on that success, what made the original resonate so strongly with smokers?

"That's a very good question—and probably difficult to answer fully," Marcel says. "I believe it's a combination of factors. First and foremost, the blend itself: it delivers an extraordinary complexity of flavors that our fans find incredibly enjoyable. And second, the presentation. The vivid blue color of the band, the bold storytelling and introduction of Blue Eyed Jack as a character, even the talking box—those elements created a strong connection. This wasn’t  just a cigar, it was an experience."

Production of this cigar marks a new era for ADVentura, being among the first made at Tabacalera Mina del Rey. How has the new facility shaped the project?

"Moving into our own facility was a transformative step," Knobel reflects. "After the fire at Tabacalera William Ventura, we saw an opportunity to build something tailored to our vision. Of course, my partner Henderson Ventura has been absolutely instrumental in this process, ensuring the quality remains uncompromised while giving us even greater flexibility and innovation in production. Blue Eyed Jack’s Revenge Maduro is a product of that new energy and precision."

The storyline of ADVentura continues to expand with this release. How does this chapter fit into the broader narrative?

"This chapter is different," Knobel notes thoughtfully. "It’s not about the voyage of ADV and McKay themselves; it’s about the characters they encounter along the way. Blue Eyed Jack is one such figure—mysterious, compelling, and layered. We wanted the cigar to reflect that richness of character."

From a flavor perspective, what should smokers expect when they light up High Tide, Blue Eyed Jack’s Revenge Maduro?

"For me, the dominant note is a freshly brewed espresso aroma—rich, smooth, and deeply satisfying," Knobel shares. "Along with that, there are subtle hints of salt, wood, and leather. It’s a complex yet smooth smoking experience, one that invites you to slow down and appreciate each layer."

The new release is offered in just one vitola, a Diadema, a departure from more conventional formats. Why make that choice?

"Diadema is one of the most difficult formats to produce," Knobel says. "But it’s also one of the most visually stunning and offers a different smoking dynamic. I believe it's time to move beyond the familiar Robusto and Toro shapes. A new shape can unlock a whole new experience, and we want our aficionados to embrace that adventure."

Can fans expect more limited-edition releases like Blue Eyed Jack’s Revenge Maduro in the future?

"In principle, yes," Knobel affirms. "But it all depends on the tobacco we have access to. True limited editions can only come from exceptional, often rare, materials. We are committed to maintaining that standard whenever we offer something under the ADVentura name."
